In this paper, a least mean square (LMS)-based channel estimation (CE) approach for a single-cell multiple-input-multiple-output non-orthogonal multiple access (MIMO-NOMA) system is investigated. Superimposed pilot symbols are employed in the recovery of the Rayleigh flat-fading channel, assuming a Jakes Doppler spectrum. The CE approach is advanced by first recasting the simplified MIMO-NOMA model to a multiple-input-multiple-output (MISO)-NOMA model, which establishes the CE error model.
