Complete genome sequences of Prevotella species isolated from horse specimens

The correct isolation and identification of microorganisms from clinical animal specimens is crucial for the study of animal health and antimicrobial resistance. Here, we present the complete genome sequences of Prevotella species isolated from equine clinical specimens in Japan. The strains were isolated from equine clinical specimens in 2010-2016. However, these strains were kept as unidentified for a long time. The identity of the strains was confirmed using 16S rRNA gene sequences. Approximately 1500 bp of 16S rRNA gene sequence was determined for each of the novel isolates. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the isolates represented a single cluster of the genus Prevotella. The whole genome sequences of the isolates were then determined by a combination of long-read sequencing using Nanopores (Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Tokyo, Japan) and short-read sequencing using DNBSEQ (MGITech Co., Ltd., Shenzhen, China).
