LAUGHTER AS THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENT OF SATIRICAL WORKS

This article examines laughter as a fundamental element of satirical literature, focusing on its aesthetic, psychological, and socio-critical functions. Drawing on theoretical approaches to the phenomenon of laughter, the study analyzes its role in shaping artistic expression and influencing readers’ perception. Particular attention is given to Uzbek satirical stories of the independence period, where laughter serves as a key device for reflecting national identity, addressing contemporary social issues, and challenging established stereotypes. The paper also explores the diversity of forms of laughter, their functions in literary texts, and the importance of their appropriate use in maintaining the balance between content and form. It is argued that effective use of laughter enhances both the aesthetic value and the critical potential of literary works, while its misuse may weaken their impact.
