We aimed to investigate the effects of aged garlic extract (AGE) in the mouse mastitis model and its component S-allylmercaptocysteine (SAMC) in mouse mammary epithelial cell line HC11. We first treated mice with oral administration of AGE or distilled water during pregnancy until 3 days after parturition and then injected lipopolysaccharide (LPS) into one side of the 4th glands. We performed the transcriptome analysis of the LPS-treated glands between AGE- or distilled water- treated animals 12 h after the LPS injection. Next, we performed experiments to identify active components in AGE in HC11 cells. We performed transcriptome analysis in HC11 cells treated with LPS and with or without SAMC.
