Heritage Places in Wadi Naqqat, Eastern Desert, Egypt
收藏资源简介:
This dataset is based on a cultural heritage survey conducted in 2018–2019 as part of the project Endangered Hermitages: Documenting Coptic Monastic Heritage in Middle Egypt and the Eastern Desert, funded by the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE). It was produced in collaboration between the Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa (EAMENA) project and the Coptic Monastic Heritage Archive (CMHA) at the University of Ljubljana, and subsequently exported to the EAMENA database. The dataset covers 14 monastic heritage sites located in the Wadi Naqqat region of Egypt's Eastern Desert. It is stored in the open-access, web-based EAMENA database, which is jointly hosted by the University of Oxford and the University of Southampton. The primary objective of compiling this dataset is to assess the impact of various disturbance factors - such as tourism and visitor activity, vandalism, and looting or other illegal activities - on these cultural heritage sites.
