With over 8 million deaths each year, the worldwide tobacco pandemic is one of the biggest threats to public health. Over 7 million of these deaths are directly related to tobacco use, and another 1.3 million are linked to secondhand smoke exposure among nonsmokers. The effectiveness of smoking cessation techniques is crucial in a time when people are becoming more conscious of the harmful consequences smoking has on our health.
