This dataset includes the daily timeseries of MODIS-based fractional snow-covered area over the selected 114 Norwegian catchments between 2000 and 2020.  Daily imagery at 500 m spatial resolution from the MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard Aqua (MYD10A1 Version 61; Hall and Riggs, 2021a) and Terra (MOD10A1 Version 61; Hall and Riggs, 2021b) satellites were combined to reduced the cloud cover, and temporal gaps were filled by using a lineer interpolation approach. Daily fractional snow-covered area was retrieved following the approach of Salomonson and Appel (2006) on the normalized difference snow index (NDSI).
