Bering Sea Sites 2019: Ocean Currents (U, V, W) time-series measurements collected from seven ADCP ocean moorings at six long-term Mooring Sites, M2, M4, M5, M8, M11 and M12 on the Bering Sea shelf, Alaska, by the EcoFOCI group at NOAA, PMEL, 2019-04-25 to 2021-10-28 (NCEI Accession 0313570)

资源简介:
Time-series data sets from seven Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) mooring deployments at six long-term mooring sites on the southeastern Bering Sea Shelf (M2, M4, M5, M8, M11 and M12) comprise this data set. The earliest, a summer mooring, was deployed April 24, 2019 from NOAA ship Oscar Dyson (cruise DY19-04, mooring ID 19bsp-2a, NOAA expedition code 33OA20190419) and recovered September 20, 2019 (cruise DY19-08, NOAA expedition code 33OA20190919). All other moorings were deployed from NOAA ship Oscar Dyson in October, 2018 (cruise DY19-08; mooring IDs 19bsp-2b, 19bsp-4a, 19bsp-5a, 19bsp-8a, 19bsp-11a, 19bsp-12a). The last digits of the mooring ID indicate mooring location, e.g. 2a for M2, 8a for M8, etc. (a and b indicate first and second deployment of the year at a location). Most of these over-winter moorings were recovered in September or October, 2020. Due to the 2020 pandemic shutdown, one mooring recovery was delayed until February of 2021 (19bsp-2b). Four moorings M2, M4, M5 and M8 are deployed at approximately 70 meters depth and are located along the 70-meter isobath of the shelf. These sites have provided long-term data records: site M2 (bs2) has been occupied since 1995. Site M8 is within the boundaries of the Distributed Biological Observatory (DBO) northern Bering Sea DBO-1 area near St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. Deployments at sites M11 and M12 were a collaboration with NOAA Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC, A. De Robertis) at depths of approximately 116 and 98 meters, respectively. *** Data were collected using Teledyne RDI Workhorse Sentinel ADCP (WCP). Variables include zonal currents (U), meridional currents (V), and vertical velocity (W). Data are hourly. *** The cruises were funded by the NOAA Arctic Research Program and NOAA, PMEL for the EcoFOCI program which included scientists from both NOAA and the University of Washington, Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies (CICOES). Deployment and recovery operations on this cruise were managed by EcoFOCI personnel. Mooring time series data were processed at NOAA/PMEL/EcoFOCI using standard techniques. Data were submitted as CF-compliant NetCDF files. *** Data contacts: Phyllis Stabeno, Shaun Bell, Ryan McCabe, Margaret Sullivan.
