In August 1988, the Adelaide newspaper, the Advertiser conducted a survey of women's attitudes and behaviour, with a 100 item questionnaire printed in the newspaper. A series of articles over eight weeks based on the questionnaire were published in the newspaper. Sections in the questionnaire covered housing preference, work, finance, equality and autonomy, relationships, children, sexuality, AIDS, emotions, attitudes to social issues, life directions and some demographic details. Questions included women's perceptions of the effect of men and women's careers on their relationships, financial independence, men and women's roles in relationships, infidelity, casual sex, attitudes to AIDS, condom use, incest, rape, euthansia, and main satisfactions and dissatisfactions of their lives. Social background variables are age, marital status, household composition, industry and description of own job.
