fairadi: A FAIR-Oriented U.S. Deprivation Indices Dataset

fairadi-data is a FAIR-oriented, reproducible U.S. deprivation indices release derived from publicly available U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey 5-year and Decennial Census data. This archived release captures the tracked project snapshot used to build and document two canonical released dataset artifacts: ADI/fairadi.csv.gz and CDI/faircdi.csv.gz. It also includes build scripts, documentation, machine-readable metadata, provenance records, checksums, schemas, and data dictionaries needed for inspection, reuse, and archival reproducibility. The release is designed as a transparent, publicly documented implementation of U.S. Census block-group deprivation index workflows. The ADI release currently spans years 2012 through 2024, and the CDI release spans years 2013 through 2024. In addition to the final released ADI and CDI datasets, the archived release includes structured documentation of intermediate derived products, release metadata, and reproducibility materials. A key methodological detail for ADI is that the group-quarters suppression component uses Decennial 2020 block-group values across all modeled years, because public ACS 5-year data do not provide group-quarters counts at the block-group level. This release supports FAIR use through persistent identification, machine-readable citation metadata, structured discovery metadata, file-level integrity metadata, explicit licensing, formal and narrative provenance documentation, machine-readable schemas, and column-level data dictionaries. Included metadata and provenance artifacts include CITATION.cff, metadata.json, dcat-us.json, ro-crate-metadata.json, provenance.provn, PROVENANCE.md, MANIFEST.tsv, ADI/fairadi_data_dictionary.tsv, ADI/fairadi_schema.json, ADI/ fairadi_codelists.tsv, CDI/faircdi_data_dictionary.tsv, and CDI/faircdi_schema.json. This archived release contains mixed-license contents. Repository code and build scripts are distributed under the BSD 3-Clause License.
