Forage mass, pasture accumulation rate of native's grasslands in small holders cattle systems of Serra do Sudeste, Rio Grande do Sul

The natural grasslands of Rio Grande do Sul has been considered an important forage to animal production. Adjusts on grazing management would be considered an important tool to define sustainable production strategies, despite the knowledge absence of how forage mass and accumulation rate occur on small holders production systems. This work was conducted with the objective to describe how small holders managed forage mass and pasture accumulation rate at two Municipalities of Serra do Sudeste, RS. Forage mass and accumulation rate were evaluated in six cattle production systems of Caçapava do Sul and Pinheiro Machado, RS. Management practices to improve forage mass could be considered an important alternative practice to increment the forage accumulation rate, into this study conditions, firstly into the summer and fall.
