资源简介:
ZIP codes are a system of postal used by the United States Postal Service (USPS) since 1963. The term ZIP, an acronym for Zone Improvement Plan. The basic format consists of five decimal numerical digits. An extended ZIP+4 code, introduced in 1983, includes the five digits of the ZIP code, a hyphen , and four additional digits that determine a more specific location within a given ZIP code. Forsyth County Zip Code layer is a reference feature class used to locate zip codes based on boundaries created to match Forsyth County's Street Centerlines. The accuracy of this layer is based on communication between the Forsyth County GIS department and the individual Post Office for each zip code. The Zip Code layer is updated as new information is introduced (ex. new subdivision, zip code boundary shift). This layer should only be used for reference purposes since it is not an official United States Postal Service layer, but a layer maintained by the Forsyth County GIS Department with the best information available at the time of revision.
