资源简介:
This collection comprises reports, site records, images, spreadsheets, GIS files, Harris Matrices, and photogrammetry 3D models from archaeological recording carried out by Connect Archaeology at Wormleighton and Church Farm, Area South between December 2020 and November 2021. Area A (c32060) was broadly characterised by an enclosed small settlement, a rectangular enclosure, an associated trackway, and an earlier enclosure. The enclosed settlement consisted of at least one possible roundhouse, a second, larger drip gully, a ditch terminus or elongated pit and a large pit. The rectangular enclosure measured 83m east to west and was exposed for 70m north to south. It was found to have two opposing entrances, on the east and west. A smaller enclosure was identified to the south of and cut by the trackway. Several discrete features were identified within the interior of the smaller enclosure, concentrated to the west and north-west. A series of irregularly distributed pits and small ditches or gullies were also identified across the whole of Area A, but no structural or formal patterning could be identified, and these features span a large date range from early prehistory to the medieval period. Area B (C32059) was broadly characterised by the presence of a large 2nd century Romano-British enclosure. Linear ditches connected to the south-east corner of the enclosure, these potentially controlled access to the space. The interior of the enclosure was divided up by a series of ditches forming smaller enclosures. Key features within these smaller enclosures, include a stone-lined drain, made up of flat, local stone within a V-shaped cut and the remains of possible post pads and postholes. A few pits were also recorded, one of which contained human remains and an intact inhumation was identified near the north-western interior corner.
