**Introduction**

Liander is a gridoperator that collects extensive data on electricity and gas distribution networks in the Netherlands. This includes information on energy consumption, the location and characteristics of cables and pipelines, and maintenance activities. The data is shared in an anonymized form and cannot be traced back to individuals or specific connections. Liander operates in Friesland, Flevoland, Gelderland, Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland and Amsterdam. This data product consists of grid and usage datasets.

**Grid data**

This dataset provides detailed information about the location of Liander's electricity cables. This includes the coordinates of the network connections (cables), with exclusions for connections used solely for public lighting, those not owned by Liander, inactive connections, and the final segment connecting to individual properties. It also includes point coordinates for key components like transformer stations, though individual connection coordinates are not shown.The dataset indicates voltage levels:High Voltage (HS): >= 50 kVMedium Voltage (MS): >= 400V, < 50 kVMS/LS Transition PointLow Voltage (LS): < 400V

**Usage data**

The dataset includes aggregated consumption data for all small consumer connections (KV) within the service area of the network operator. To ensure privacy, data is aggregated so that each row represents a minimum of ten connections, potentially merging multiple postal codes.

The dataset provides valuable insights into consumption patterns and the distribution of small consumer connections, facilitating analysis and planning for energy management and infrastructure development.

Each row contains the following elements:

- **NETBEHEERDER:** EAN code of the regional network operator.
- **NETGEBIED:** Description of the closed purchase area for a connection.
- **STRAATNAAM:** Street name associated with POSTCODE_VAN.
- **POSTCODE_VAN:** Starting postal code (format: 4 digits, 2 letters, no space).
- **POSTCODE_TOT:** End postal code (same format), merged for privacy if fewer than 10 connections.
- **WOONPLAATS:** City name associated with POSTCODE_VAN.
- **LANDCODE:** "NL" (Netherlands ISO code 3166 alpha-2).
- **PRODUCTSOORT:** Energy type ("ELK" for electricity, "GAS" for gas).
- **VERBRUIKSSEGMENT:** Small consumer segment (electricity connections ≤ 3x80 amps, gas connections ≤ G25).
- **AANSLUITINGEN_AANTAL:** Number of connections in the postal code area for the specified energy type.
- **LEVERINGSRICHTING_PERC:** Percentage of connections with net energy or gas consumption, adjusted for energy generation (e.g., solar panels).
- **FYSIEKE_STATUS_PERC:** Percentage of active connections; others may be under construction, inactive, or demolished.
- **SOORT_AANSLUITING_PERC:** Percentage of the most common connection type based on capacity.
- **SOORT_AANSLUITING:** Name of the most common connection type.
- **SJV_GEMIDDELD:** Average standard annual uptake (SJV) in kWh for electricity or m³ for gas.
- **SJV_LAAG_TARIEF_PERC:** Percentage of connections with dual tariffs.
- **SLIMME_METER_PERC:** Percentage of smart meters across all generations.
