Dataset of the P-wave (Vp) and S-wave (Vs) velocity values used in the study titled: "Spatial distribution of Vp/Vs for sediment and crust off Sanriku, Japan, using distributed acoustic sensing data"
收藏资源简介:
This dataset compiles the P-wave (Vp) and S-wave (Vs) velocity values used in the study titled:“Spatial distribution of Vp/Vs for sediment and crust off Sanriku, Japan, using distributed acoustic sensing data”by Shun Fukushima¹, Masanao Shinohara², and Akiko Takeo². 1Institute of Seismology and Volcanology, Faculty of Science, Hokkaido University.2Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. We divided a 100-km-long section off Iwate, Sanriku, Japan, into several subarrays along the submarine cable. For each subarray, we defined the start and end positions based on the distance from the coastline. The Vp and Vs information for each subarray is provided in individual text files named: VpVs_at_{kmsta}to_{kmend}km_from_the_coast.txtwhere {kmsta} and {kmend} represent the start and end positions based on the distance from the coastline, respectively. Each file contains the velocity structure parameters for the corresponding subarray, including depth, Vp, Vs, and their uncertainties. The definitions of all columns are as follows: ・depth_start[km]: Upper boundary depth of each model layer, measured from the seafloor (in kilometers).・depth_end[km] : Lower boundary depth of each model layer, measured from seafloor (in kilometers).・Vp[km/s] : P-wave velocity, expressed in kilometers per second (km/s).・Vs[km/s]: S-wave velocity, expressed in kilometers per second (km/s). The values are estimated from surface-wave analyses by Fukushima et al. (2022).・sigma_Vs: Uncertainty of the S-wave velocity (Vs). Definitions of this parameter are provided in the main text of Fukushima et al. 2022.・sigma_Vp: Uncertainty of the P-wave velocity (Vp).Definitions of this parameter are provided in the main text of this paper.・method_of_vp: Method used to estimate the P-wave velocity (Vp) such as “τ-sum inversion,” or “travel_time_inversion,”・resolution_value_Vp: The value of diagonal components in the resolution matrix in the travel_time_inversion (Ito et al., 2004; Zelt & Smith, 1992). When Vp is estimated by τ-sum inversion, this values is NaN.
