Chlorophyll-a concentration is a key indicator of marine ecosystem health. Traditionally, the vertical distribution of chlorophyll-a concentration has been measured primarily by in-situ methods, such as ship-borne instruments or buoys. Currently, large scale and continuous three-dimensional (3D) measurement of chlorophyll-a concentration is not possible with existing observation platforms and technologies. Those data obtained from passive optical remote sensing satellites (e.g., from MODIS\/Aqua) with vertical profile data from active detection platforms (e.g., from ships or buoys), achieving high spatio-temporal resolution 3D reconstruction. The algorithm was applied to conduct data reconstruction experiments in certain areas of the South Yellow Sea area (November 2013) and parts of the Northwest Pacific Ocean (January 2024). The data used is this dataset.
