资源简介:
This scientific project aims to comprehensively characterize the gut microbiome and sequence the genome of Cyprinodon variegatus riverendi, an endemic subspecies found in Las Calderas Bay, Dominican Republic. This coastal fish species thrives in a unique and extreme environment, making it an excellent model for studying evolutionary adaptation at both the host genetic and microbial levels. The research is structured around two main components:Gut Microbiome Sequencing: Using next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques, we will analyze the taxonomic and functional composition of the intestinal microbiome. This will help uncover the role of microbial communities in nutrition, salinity tolerance, energy metabolism, and overall host health.Whole-Genome Sequencing of the Host: We will conduct whole-genome sequencing of the fish to identify genes related to environmental adaptation, metabolism, immunity, and reproduction. Comparative genomic analyses with other Cyprinodon populations and related species will provide evolutionary insights.
