gut microbiome of prebiotic-treated NFLD patients

A cohort of NAFLD patients was randomized for a prebiotic (Inulin) 12 weeks treatment (n=8) and a placebo treatment (n=11). Fecal microbiome and metabolic, inflammatory, and liver parameters were assessed at baseline and at end of treatment. Inulin signifcantly increased relative abundance of Bifidobacterium, but did not significantly alter liver-related clinical parameters.
