Beyond Grand Unification: The Canvas Model as a Generative Foundation for Fundamental Physics

Grand Unified Theories conventionally seek a common gauge structure from which the Standard Model interactions SU(3)_C × SU(2)_L × U(1)_Y emerge through symmetry breaking. The Emergence Canvas Model proposes a different hierarchy of explanation. Rather than beginning with gauge symmetry and seeking a larger gauge symmetry, Canvas begins from a proposed pre-gauge primitive substrate and asks whether gauge structure, matter organization, quantum behavior, spacetime, and gravitational dynamics can arise as downstream manifestations of the same generative architecture. The Framework The framework is constructed from eight primitives—Order, Amplitude, Acceleration, Polarity, Chirality, Dimension, Angle, and Charge—together with four principal dynamical pillars: a Unified Wave Equation, a Threshold Condition, a spectral/eigenvalue structure, and Feed dynamics. The four dynamic primitives possess periods 5, 3, 2, and 7, generating the common synchronization cycle lcm(5,3,2,7) = 210. This finite primitive arithmetic supplies a common upstream structure from which threshold sectors, composition channels, internal representations, candidate generation operators, and other physical structures are developed. The Central Thesis The central thesis of this paper is that the most informative classification of Canvas is not simply "Grand Unified Theory." Grand unification is instead one downstream consequence of a more fundamental proposed architecture: ```primitive substrate → quantum structure, spacetime, gauge structure, matter organization, gravity, cosmology``` Canvas therefore seeks unification beneath the conventional distinction between matter, interaction, and spacetime. What the Audits Revealed A sequence of mathematical and computational audits has simultaneously strengthened and narrowed this claim. Several attractive mechanisms have been rejected, including literal multiplication of free primitive carriers, threshold crossing as a sufficient particle-selection mechanism, simple-pole generation of the fermion hierarchy, generation-independent spatial-overlap mechanisms, and minimal affine two-channel return models. At the same time, a substantial interconnected body of primitive-generated structure survives. Earlier accounting classified approximately 38 quantities as Machine-derived with several further candidates. Under the stricter post-audit provenance standard, the present conservative working estimate is approximately 25–35, with ~30 as the provisional central count of strongly primitive/Machine-derived quantitative or discrete structures. Why "Beyond Grand Unification" The phrase "Beyond Grand Unification" does not mean Canvas has surpassed established theories in empirical confirmation or mathematical completion. It identifies the explanatory level at which the theory operates. Grand unification asks whether several forces have one origin. Canvas asks whether forces, matter, quantum structure, and spacetime have one origin. Conventional GUTs assume gauge symmetry, quantum fields, representation theory, and a spacetime arena. Canvas attempts to place these structures downstream of primitive dynamics. Thus "beyond" denotes explanatory depth, not historical priority or experimental superiority. What Canvas Already Has The present programme contains, at varying provenance levels: · A fixed eight-primitive architecture· A four-pillar dynamical structure· A finite 210 synchronization cycle· A primitive composition arithmetic· Waveform-derived quantities· Threshold structures· A carrier/composition separation· Finite internal operators· A three-channel generation architecture· Nonlinear threshold dynamics· Reciprocal return conditions· Canonical quantum normalization· Candidate gauge-sector organization· Mixing structures· Cosmological relations· A forward computational dependency graph· Explicit internal no-go results What Canvas Does Not Yet Have The principal unresolved interfaces include: · A complete zero-fit derivation of all nine charged-fermion masses· Complete derivation of absolute interaction normalization· A fully closed derivation of the common localized-state operator· Complete derivation of the primitive-to-physical scale map· A complete continuum derivation of gravitational dynamics· A final exact provenance ledger for every advertised numerical result The Forward Programme The next stage should be organized around parameter elimination rather than the invention of additional phenomenological mechanisms. The objective is N_input ↓ while N_output ↑ or remains fixed. This is the operational meaning of progress toward generative unification. Why This Matters The Canvas Model is more accurately characterized not as merely another candidate Grand Unified Theory, but as a proposed generative layer beneath grand unification: a compact pre-gauge architecture from which gauge structure, matter organization, quantum behavior, spacetime, and gravitational physics are intended to arise as downstream consequences. Its present scientific merit lies in the substantial amount of interconnected structure already generated from this primitive basis and in the increasingly explicit mathematical boundary between what is derived, what is conditional, and what remains to be solved.
