Integrons are one of the main actors in the spread of antibiotic resistance. The study of isolates of environmental origin has shown the existence of a bidirectional flow of antibiotic resistance genes between the environment and the hospital niche. The description of a sedentary integron in a new species of Pseudomonas evidences the diversity of this genus but mainly allows us to partially analyze the evolution of integrons and the potential mechanisms of acquisition/loss of gene cassettes.
