Railway accident and incident investigations

This dataset contains railway accident investigations. Articles 20-26 of the Railway Safety Directive (EU) 2016/798 outline the requirements for the investigation and reporting of accidents and incidents on the railway. Member States are required to notify ERA of accident investigations and to submit copies of the accident investigation report when complete. The responsibility for this activity lies with an Independent Investigation body within each of the Member States. The reports received are published by ERA.
Investigations by NIBs were recorded in the ERAIL database until its disconnection at the end of 2020. Since then, an Excel database (based on the information retrieved from ERAIL) has been updated with the information on the new investigations reported to ERA (including safety recommendations).
