DEVELOPING SOCIOLINGUISTIC AWARENESS THROUGH REAL-LIFE COMMUNICATION TASKS IN TESOL
收藏资源简介:
Modern TESOL methodology increasingly prioritizes learners’ ability to function effectively in real communicative environments. While grammatical accuracy remains important, successful communication depends largely on sociolinguistic awareness—the capacity to select language forms appropriate to social context, interlocutor roles, and cultural expectations. This article examines the pedagogical value of real-life communication tasks as a means of developing sociolinguistic awareness among non-philological university students. Drawing on classroom-based research and task-based learning principles, the study demonstrates that contextualized communicative tasks significantly enhance learners’ pragmatic sensitivity and contextual language use. The findings suggest that systematic integration of real-life tasks contributes to more flexible, confident, and socially appropriate communication in English.
