NRS-14538 | Advance applications (" A " files) [Farm Water Supplies Branch, Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission]

The Farm Water Supplies Act, 1946, provides that any owner of farming lands may make an application to the Commissioner for an advance for the purpose of carrying out of works necessary for the provision or improvement of the water supply to farming lands for domestic, stock or irrigation purposes. Advance Application files generally contain the following papers: an application under Section 3 of the Act for an advance; details of the applicant's liabilities; survey sheets showing levels; inspecting officer's report; a copy of the locality plan outlining the property; a cost sheet (for charging inspection fees); a record of existing equipment; a plan of the proposed scheme with associated technical data; an estimate of the cost; correspondence relating to the application; and an information sheet detailing estimated capital costs, probable term of advance, operating details and estimated labour requirement. Correspondence from the Bank advises the Commission that an Advance has been approved and when the debt has been repaid. Advance Applications were approved by the Commission, but the advances were actually made by the Rural Bank (later the State Bank), so records relating to the repayment of advances reside with the bank.
