bis(NHC)borate-supported thorium-bis(mesitylphosphido) complex
(1) undergoes reversible intramolecular C–H bond
activation enabling the catalytic hydrophosphination of unactivated
internal alkynes. Catalytic and stoichiometric experiments support
a mechanism involving reactive Th–NHC metallacycle intermediates
(Int and 2).
