<p>The project’s main aim is to observe how reality in a conflict, such as the war in Ukraine, is metaphorically reflected in the social network X and to understand the potential evaluative and polarizing power of force schemas.</p>
<p>The event selected for the analysis is the war in Ukraine. The collected and analysed sample consists of 743 posts, all of which include metaphors manually retrieved from the hashtags #IStandWithUkraine (526 posts) and #IStandWithRussia (217 posts) found on the social network X around six important or significant events in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia from February to May 2022: the beginning of the war; the occupation of Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant; the Bucha massacre; the Kramatorsk railway station attack; the sinking of the Moskva; and the Mariupol theatre airstrike.</p>
