Here we report the genome sequence of Serratia grimesii strain A2, which is was previously identified as Escherichia coli strain A2, producing protease ECP32 with a high specificity towards actin. Protease ECP32 (which is similar to the protease grimelysin) has been successfully used in studies of actin structure/function relationship and mechanisms of actin polymerization. It is supposed that ECP32/grimelisin mediate invasion being injected into the eukaryotic cell.
