List of the 108 references compiled in the Web of Science for the meta-analysis with the corresponding authors, publication year, title, journal, volume, and doi [Dataset]

We conducted a meta-analysis of the existing scientific literature focused on the Mediterranean region in March 2024, using the Web of Science (Core collection of Web of Science). The search employed various keyword combinations, specifically: ((reforest* OR a restoration* OR reveget* OR rehabilit* OR rewilding* OR renaturaliz*) AND (post-fire* OR fire*) AND (Spain* OR Portugal* OR Italy* OR Greece* OR mediterranean*) AND (forest* OR broadleaved* OR conifer*)). The initial search yielded 532 scientific publications, with 512 selected after verifying the inclusion of the abstract and journal information. Using the “Refine Results” option, we excluded books, book chapters, proceedings, and editorial materials. The full set of abstracts was then reviewed and classified to assess their relevance based on the aim of the study, i.e., analyzing the practices employed to achieve post-fire restoration goals. Abstracts (100) in which the relationship to the aim of the study was unclear were evaluated by a second researcher. A final screening was conducted to include only studies that specifically addressed post-fire restoration activities, resulting in a total of 108 relevant papers selected for further analysis and information extraction (Supplementary material 4, Table S3).
