Using the microbiome for impact assessment in Australian arid environments. arid biome

This project aims to determine the metagenome derived community structures of arid biomes and demonstrate the diversity of genes and pathways representative of microbiome adaptations to environmental perturbation. Samples of soils and scats were collected from representative arid sites in South Australia to explore the community structure and the functional ability of the microbiome. This is a scale-up from traditional biomonitoring methods used arid ecosystems.
