This dataset supports the manuscript “Seeing isn’t always believing? Visual trust and the mediated representation of Indian migrants in UAE English‑language news” and contains the replication data for a mixed‑methods study of visual trust among first‑generation Indian migrants in the UAE. The repository includes a synthetic survey dataset (N = 520) that preserves the exact frequency distributions reported in the article for all demographic and trust‑related variables, along with an anonymised thematic summary of 24 semi‑structured interviews coded for visual stereotypes, missing images, and perceived social impact. Also provided are a full variable codebook and a README file with usage instructions. Data are licensed under CC BY 4.0.
