Ionic liquid-based electrolytes for synergistic optimization of both the iodine cathode and anode sides of zinc-iodine batteries

An ionic liquid-based electrolyte using quaternary ammonium ionic liquid (Triethyl methyl ammonium chloride (N2221Cl)) as additives is proposed to effectively inhibit the growth of zinc dendrites and the shuttling effect of I3- ions, which significantly improves the cycle life of zinc-iodide batteries (ZIBs).
