Tableland areas inventory across the Chinese Loess Plateau (2018)

A high-quality inventory of tableland areas (2018) across the Loess Plateau was provided. To generate this plateau-scale inventory, an object-based approach for large-scale tableland areas mapping was proposed by integrating Sentinel-2 imagery and AW3D30 DEM topographic information. The automatic mapping approach behaves in a good performance, with the overall accuracies over 90% in all the four investigated subregions. After the strict quality control by manual inspection, the final product was generated, demonstrating that the tableland areas occupied 9507.31 km² across the Loess Plateau.
