资源简介:
This dataset shows the clutch size for the Buceroti suborder in the Bucerotiformes order. This suborder contains two families: the Bucorvidae and the Bucerotidae. All member of the suborder are Hornbill birds. I used these factors for the dataset as one has not been previously compiled before. I also used clutch size specifically as it is a useful numerical representative of breeding success in birds, as it can indicate factors such as resource and/or energetic availability for breeding birds.
During the literature search I searched on Google Scholar for each species in the Buceroti suborder and tried to find papers published which had numerical clutch size data. I also aimed to only use papers with data which is from later than 2000 to ensure the data is more recent and comparable between each species. There is, however, one species (Ceratogymna atrata) which I was unable to find a later dataset for on clutch size, so it is prior to 2000.
The clutch size data represents the mean number of eggs laid per breeding pair in a single brood for each species. I was unable to find Location data in the form of latitudinal and longitudinal co-ordinates, so the location data shown simply states the range of the species across the world.
