资源简介:
Six soil samples for flotation and nine pollen samples from the
Beaucoup Site (24PH 188/189) were submitted to Palynological Analysts
for identification and interpretation. The site is located along the Milk
River in Phillips County, near the north- central Montana/ Canadian border.
The site includes a bison kill area, bison processing areas, a jump and
its associated drive lines, numerous stone circles, rock piles, large and
small cairns, stone alignments, and hearths. Initial exploration of the
site by Lahren (1979) indicated that people have made use of the site
possibly from McKean times through the Late Prehistoric period to the
present (Roebuck 1980). The emphasis of the test excavations conducted
at the site in 1980 by Powers Elevation was on demonstrating the relationship
between the stone features and ceremonialism and/ or bison procurement
activities.
