[CoIIICp2]+[FeIIII4]- (Cp = cyclopentadienyl) prepared by the double oxidation of FeI2 and CoCp2 with iodine exhibits a 30 °C thermal hysteresis in magnetic susceptibility between 134 and 164 K that is attributed to a phase transition to a disordered triclinic unit cell from an ordered monoclinic unit cell upon cooling.
