La cuccagna che vale un Perù. Atlante dei luoghi dell'abbondanza nella fraseologia italiana

This work offers a concise but accurate sampling of Italian idiomatic expressions derived from real or imaginary places considered, for different reasons, to be the seat of immense wealth or prosperity, in an attempt to delineate the boundaries of a 'geography of abundance'. An in-depth study is then proposed on the origin and diffusion of two Italian idioms: valere un Perù («to worth a Peru») and cuccagna, whose history we have attempted to trace starting from their first attestation in the Italian language, from the testimony of ancient and modern texts and from their presence in lexicographic works of Italian, up to the vitality of these idiomatic expressions in the contemporary language.
