Cross-sectional carriage study of non-Typhoidal Salmonella in Kikonka, DRC

From 09/2019 to 03/2020, healthy inhabitants of Kikonka health area (Kongo Central Province, DR Congo) were asked to provide three stool samples which were cultured using CHROMagarTM Salmonella medium. iNTS stool isolates were compared with blood culture iNTS isolates obtained during the same period from patients living in the same health area, using multiple-locus variable-number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA). For a subset of Typhimurium and Enteritidis isolates, sequence types (ST) were assessed by whole genome sequencing (WGS).
