资源简介:

Specialized museum libraries often operate as “islands”: they hold unique collections but lack the IT infrastructure needed for global visibility and digital sustainability. This poster argues that long term viability depends on moving from isolation to strategic cooperation. Using the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (GNM) as a case study, we show how high level partnerships enable a specialized institution to remain agile, innovative, and internationally connected. The GNM library’s strategy is built on a multi layered network: • Infrastructure & discovery: participation in the K10plus union catalogue and the Art Discovery Group Catalogue; • Technical synergy: close collaboration with Heidelberg University Library for cataloguing, hosting digital collections, and publishing; • International research: contribution of provenance data to the MEI (Material Evidence in Incunabula) project with Sapienza University of Rome. A key example is the externally funded project “Nuremberg Schembartlauf (1449–1539) – digital” (https://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/de/schembart/index.html), which demonstrates how alliances support scalable workflows and linked open data for complex cultural heritage. The GNM library invites especially specialized museum libraries to rethink their own digital strategies: How can they leverage the technical power of large partners while preserving their distinctive institutional identity?
