HIV's envelope protein (Env) rapidly evolves. Understanding the effects of single mutations to Env is important for understanding its evolutionary capacity. The goal of our study was to experimentally estimate the effect of all amino-acid mutations to Env on viral replication in cell culture. We measured these effects in context of Env from the BG505 strain of HIV. We did so using a high-throughput technique called deep mutational scanning. This BioProject contains the deep-sequencing data from this study.
