In this study, we demonstrated the crucial role of VIVID in light-responsive fungal physiology in P. anserina. Mutant lacking VIVID showed drastic changes in vegetative growth, sexual development, pigmentation, metabolic gene regulation, sterigmatocystin production and oxidative stress tolerance, which are exclusively triggered by white light.
