Prototyping as Feedback Infrastructure for Innovating Construction

This thesis examines why the construction industry struggles to adopt new ideas, despite constant innovation. It argues that the problem is not a lack of solutions, but a lack of reliable ways to test, evaluate, and learn from them. Through a series of digital and physical prototypes, the research shows how prototyping can act as a structured way to generate feedback, reveal problems early, and support better decision-making. It proposes a framework for using prototyping as 'feedback infrastructure' to help construction projects learn more effectively and improve how buildings are designed and delivered over time.
