To evaluate the overlap amongst the defense mechanisms associated with eight grape powdery mildew resistance loci, the leaf transcriptome of fourteen grape accessions was profiled at 1 and 5 days post inoculation with the causal agent of grape powdery mildew, Erysiphe necator, or a mock solution. The fourteen grape accessions included eight breeding lines carrying a resistance locus: 09390-023 (Ren2+), 07712-06 (Ren3+), 13353-55 (Ren4D+), 14305-002 (Ren4U+), 14375-059 (Run1+), e6-23 (Run1.2b+), 09705-45 (Run2.1+), 08391-029 (Run2.2+); four breeding lines devoid of a resistance locus: 13353-33 (Ren4D-), 14305-001 (Ren4U-), 14375-063 (Run1-), 08391-028 (Run2.2-); two Vitis vinifera parents: F2-35 and Malaga Rosada.
