Amadeus of Lausanne (* c. 1110 – † 27 Aug 1159)

Amadeus was born at Chatte Castle in Viennois (today: France, Dép. Isère); he was the son of the nobleman Amadeus of Hauterives, with whom he entered the Cistercian Abbey Bonnevaux around 1120. He was then educated in Cluny and at the court of his Swabian relative Conrad, later Conrad III King of the Romans. Around 1125, he became a monk at Clairvaux and in 1139, he was elected abbot of Hautecombe in Savoy. He later became bishop of Lausanne. A. was buried in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame of Lausanne.
