The project is aimed at identifying many heptapeptide amino acid sequences within the adeno-associated virus (AAV) serotype 2 VP protein (i.e., VP1 amino acid positions from 319 to 325) that are viable for virion formation. Such viable heptapeptides are selected from a pool of random nucleotides coding random heptapeptides by means of directed evolution.
