Ulcerative colitis and Estrogen receptor beta

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is one of the main types of inflammatory bowel disease, which is characterized by intestinal epithelial destruction and mucosal inflammation. Estrogen receptor beta belongs to the nuclear receptor superfamily with important biological functions. It is also the main subtype of ER in the colon, which can exert an anti-inflammatory effect. However, the anti-inflammatory mechanism of Estrogen receptor beta in UC has not been fully elucidated.
