We are using a rat model(Rattus norvegicus Sprague Dawley breed) to study the impact of nutritional maternal protein restriction during gestation on the development of the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus was sampled on the offspring of dams that were fed either a control (20% protein) of a restricted (8% protein) diet throughout gestation. Sampling was performed at E17 embryonic day. Eight males and eight females from each experimental group were used. Sequencing libraries were prepared from total mRNA according to the method described by Soumillon et al (2014)Preprint at BioRxiv https://www.biorxiv.org/content/early/2014/03/05/003236. Paired end sequencing was performed on an Illumina Hiseq 2500.
