资源简介:
The 1975 Survey of Selected Leisure Time Activities was also conducted by Statistics Canada on behalf of the Secretary of State Department. There were, however, some significant differences. The emphasis on sporting activities of the 1972 survey had been changed to music and the arts. More significant, however, is the change in reference period from March in 1972 to October in 1975. The 1975 survey was designed in part to be a follow-up of the 1972 survey, where possible to provide comparable data. At the same time, the opportunity was taken to rectify some shortcoming recognized in the 1972 survey. Given these changes, the results of the two surveys are not strictly comparable. In part, therefore, the 1975 survey was designed as a benchmark survey against which results of future surveys of leisure activities can be assessed. The objective of the survey is to gain information on the cultural activities of Canadians and in particular their reading habits as they relate to the leisure time activities. The reason being to assist in the development of policies and programmes related to publishing and reading in Canada. The specific objective of the survey vehicle is to determine directly who reads, how much is read and what types of material and subject matter are read. Through the analysis, the characteristics of the respondent will be linked to their reading habits. The intent being to identify relationships between age, sex, education, and other leisure time activities and reading habits.
