Genome sequencing of Aeromonas hydrophila strain Ae25. Aeromonas hydrophila strain:Ae25

Whole genome shotgun sequencing of Aeromonas hydrophila strain Ae25 isolated from diseased Koi carp (Cyprinus carpio koi) showing signs of septicaemia. The fish was taken from a fresh water aquarium in Sri Lanka. A. hydrophila is an important opportunistic pathogen of aquatic and terrestrial animals recognized as a causative agent of septicaemia in fresh water fish and an emerging human pathogen with a strong ability of adapting to antibiotics and acquiring resistance. This strain in particular was identified as being multi drug resistant. An increase in available genome data of A. hydrophila will improve our understanding of its virulence and resistance, both elements essential for improving treatments and prevention.
