The invention relates to a device and a method for cutting wooden parts， in particular planks or beams. A cross conveyor (14， 20， 30) and a longitudinal conveyor (60) are arranged one behind the other in the conveying direction (11， 61) of the planks. In addition， at least one mitre saw station (40) is provided upstream of the longitudinal conveyor (60). Upstream from the mitre saw station (40)， the cross conveyor (14， 20， 30) is provided with conveyor elements (32) movable in the cross-conveying direction (11). The conveyor elements (32) are provided with fixing elements (34) for securing the planks (70; 90) on the conveyor elements (32).
