metatranscription sequencing of mycoviruses in Rhizoctonia solani

Mycoviruses are ubiquitous in all kinds of fungi, but it is difficult to discover since mycovirus seldom leads to visible phenotype. Because of the rapid development of high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analysis technology, meta-virome studies can identify many viral genomes from a specific environment or biological population samples. Here, we applied a metatranscription sequencing to discover the mycovirome of Rhizoctonia solani causing rice sheath blight, aiming at expanding our understanding of mycoviral diversity and providing a valuable resource for the further utilization of mycoviruses to control rice diseases.
