Pteropod abundance (individuals g⁻¹ sediment) from the Andaman Sea (NGHP-17): species counts, preservation indices, and morphometric data
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains quantitative records of pteropod assemblages from sediment core NGHP-17 recovered from the Andaman Sea, northeastern Indian Ocean. The data provide species-specific pteropod abundances expressed as number of specimens per gram of dry sediment (# g⁻¹) together with preservation and morphometric parameters for paleoceanographic investigations. The dataset includes the following variables: Mid-depth of each sediment interval (m) Age (kyr) Species abundance (# g⁻¹) of: Heliconoides inflatus Limacina trochiformis Limacina bulimoides Styliola subula Creseis convexa Creseis chierchiae Diacria quadridentata Cavolinia gibbosa Clio pyramidata Clio cuspidata Creseis conica Creseis virgula Creseis acicula Diacria trispinosa Clio polita Hyalocylis striata Total pteropod abundance (# g⁻¹) Limacina Dissolution Index (LDX) Fragment abundance (# g⁻¹) Fragmentation Ratio (FR) Average shell size of Heliconoides inflatus (mm) Total epipelagic pteropod abundance (# g⁻¹) Total mesopelagic pteropod abundance (# g⁻¹) Epipelagic-to-mesopelagic abundance ratio The dataset can be used to investigate changes in pteropod community structure, carbonate preservation, upper-ocean hydrography, and aragonite dissolution through time in the Andaman Sea. Species abundance and preservation indices provide valuable proxies for reconstructing variations in water-column stratification, carbonate saturation state, and regional paleoceanographic conditions.
